However, this was the only car that had condensation in headlights, mainly around the amber reflectors. I will be getting extended warranty if I purchase this car (good info on the board). So I am not so concerned about those issues (since they've been fixed but perhaps I should be? :dunno. BMW E60 / E61 before face-lift (pre-LCI) that were produced between 2003-2006 and after face-lift (LCI) 2007-2010 are known to have a fault in headlights. This particular one has had all the necessary recalls taken care of and seemed to have the latest I-drive software judging from the brownish color of the screen. I am aware of multiple problems that plagued the earlier M5's. Almost too good to be true, thanks to the economy. However, I came across an early production M5 fully loaded with every option available and very low mileage (less than 10K) and super clean. Anyways, I have been looking at late production 20s. My E46 M3 will take over daily duties as I just couldn't convince myself to sell it. It will become my second car as I will be selling my daily driver. While I cannot see them honouring a warranty claim for a new unit, they should open the vent holes for free and offer you a cup of coffee while you wait.I've been searching for a used M5 for sometime. They did that for 3 days and hey presto, the problem has not returned. I tried to claim under warranty and Murketts showed me a technical buletin from BMW, which instructs that these ventilation holes are opened and the headlights left to dry out. Throughout the years of exploatation the upper part of headlight, that contain eyebrow module may loose is seal. I've noticed this condensation in a lot of 5 series cars, curiously always on the right side. If there is moisture and/or dust in that air, it can get into the headlight. When they get hot, the vent lets air out and when they get cold, the vent lets air in. I have a build up of condensation in my right front unit.in the eye brow bit.īMW have told me that these are not sealed units and that this is not a warranty job. They have a special vent that allows them to breath. ![]()
